Can you believe it??? I just had a complete power outage here and lost my message that I was working on to you Dutchy!!!! Well, now, first let me repeat (grin) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for the pictures! That was so kind of you! AND I REALLY REALLY appreciate it. Please thank your DH.
I think I was already putting my thumb in the wrong place because my right fingers were not reaching properly, and now I see why for sure.
Thank you !!!
Also, I was trying to say in my power outage last message that was lost...grin...that there is indeed a mistake in the Essential Elements 2000 book that I have for the Oboe. I have the one that has two CD's therein.
Well, on page 5A the seventh exercise, the Long Haul has the picture/diagram of finger placement for the note G wrong. The one showing is for the G but it is incorrect that it is showing the placement for the G that is an octave higher. The picture shows that the left thumb is pressed, but for the note of this G clef note, it is not supposed to be that way. I located and reconfirmed with other pictures and other sources that this was indeed incorrect. Just three fingers are pressed on the left hand.
I also felt something was amiss when I was playing it, especially in relation to the A note; it just didn't sound right, although my efforts I was not getting a high note from the placement. I discovered this last night, so I'll be in retraining today, and I'll see how it sounds today.
Anyway, just thought I would put out a heads up because you had mentioned that you were getting this book, but perhaps you are getting the one with the DVD? Which might be altogether different???
I think the version that I have is a bit confusing because one CD is for the right side pages and the other is for the left side, and so it is a bit weird.
But nonetheless, I am so glad that I have this!!!! The CD is awesome!
