another trick might be to have a looser embouchure, and then blow at a higher pressure.
I always do a bit of this in warmup...I make a very loose embouchure, so that the note is very flat. Then I blow as much as comfortably possible, then make a small adjustment to correct pitch. Sometimes that is enough to get the note centered, and to remind the body where the blowing is coming from.
As for tinkering - try to find the solution that has the most favourable of the unfavourable characteristics. In other words, aim for the best function, as in reedmaking. So, make sure all the notes respond first. Then if everything seems alright, you can go ahead and adjust pitch. As soon as there is any hint of unresponsiveness, go back. The more responsive the note, the easier it is to manipulate with the embouchure.
