<<Just wondering, would lower notes be easier to play with harder reeds?I'm just wondering because my embouchure seems to squeeze the reeds too much to play the lower Bb and C>>

simple answer -- no -- you've got to learn how to let go of that heavy lip squeeze for low notes, loosen up

complicated answer -- maybe you need harder reeds, maybe not

depends if they close up within 10 mins playing, if so and they're medium-soft, upgrade to medium, but if they're mediums already and closing down within 10 mins, loosen up

to get low notes you have to roll the reed out in front of your teeth between lips shaped more like a pouty kiss than a firm line

this is only a little change, not a lot, you still need lips firm enough to control the blatties

other things that make lower notes easier to play are moist reed and warm oboe
