Sorry for the squabbling on your thread.

Just a thought about finding an oboe teacher. You might have to think outside the box a bit. Are you anywhere near a Uni with a music performance program? It might be possible to meet up with an oboe student a couple of times to get some tips from someone who can see and hear you play even if the professors are out of reach. And also check your oboe is working properly. Or perhaps a local good but amateur orchestra has an oboe player who you could meet a few times to set you on the right path. Or what about an Army base? Certainly the military musicians who I have played with (and that sounds so wrong!) are very good players. Or perhaps your school music dept could organise for a couple of orchestral players from different sections could visit your school and each run a workshop. Perhaps one wind, one strings, one brass and one percussion? I attended one of these type of events recently and it was very helpful. I don't know if you have PTAs in the States (Parent Teacher Association) but this is something that they could be interested in organising. Chances are someones parents has a friend or relative in an orchestra.
