Also, if you get a reed stuck and can't get it out with just the normal amount of pulling, and it's apparent that you're going to need to really "get down and get dirty" with it, you ought to take the top joint off (i.e. disassemble half the oboe, Elkwoman) before you begin your operation, because when you're wrestling with the reed, and it twists, and it's still stuck in the reed well, it can take the top joint twisting with it, and then you'll get your bridge keywork between the top joint and the middle joint clashing and possibly breaking.
