I'm too new to be playing exciting music. My teacher gave me two pieces to practice. One is for a duet. I'm also learning to use a metranome in order to play to the timing of the music. My goal is to eventually play in a community orchestra or small wind group....maybe both. It's important to learn to count in order to know when to begin playing with the others on any give piece of music. I took piano for seven years as a child, and I hated to count. Now I'm realizing the importance of it.
All of my other music is in the music book. Until your embouchure develops enough, you'll probably be playing for short periods of time at intervals during the day into evening.....air exercises, reed exercises, and melodies. It's all fun. I practice my air exercises whenever I think of it: in the shower, in bed, sitting on the recliner, laying down on the couch, working in the kitchen.....inhale (with abs blowing up like a balloon)-12345....hold the breath-1234567.....exhale with the abs-12345.....let it all out....repeat. It's the same breathing for opera singers. Maybe you are familiar with this breathing technique. I can't say that I'm doing it absolutely correct.
