Congrats on getting your new oboe! Hope you have fun with it.
You'll have to cover those bell holes with your knees one time just to see what you're missing <g>.
On the flute lists there is a highly recommend tuning cd called "The Tuning CD",
http://www.thetuningcd.com/, the CD will to help train your ears to hear that you are out of tune (if you already have good sense of pitch, you may not need such a CD and will find playing along with music with CDs will help make sure you play on pitch).
Keep in mind that as your oboe reeds get old, they get sharp. So if you find that your intonation gets really bad when trying to play along to things, then you may just need a new reed!
Also make sure reeds go in all the way into the reed chamber, they should not be pulled out to compensate for pitch, water will just build up inside.
Regards,
Stephen
