okay you two!!! Thanks so much for the information! I know it, I know it...I already know that I'll probably be one of those that want an oboe upgrade just as soon as I can play something correctly. Actually, and kindly of sadly, I do recognize that a lot to do with music is about who has the best toys, if you know what I mean. I have experienced teachers playing "my" instrument and then playing "their" instrument back to back; and if the teacher demonstrates that there is indeed a "vast" difference between the two playing the same thing, well, it is a lot to do with who has the best toys.
I think this is kind of one of the saddest things about music in general; that while talent, skill, practice, etc., are all important, that instrument is all important too. For example, I have seen...take a violin for example. What I understand is that basically all violins will have a good sounding two high strings, but it is the two low strings that need to sound good that makes a violin expensive or not, (and of course there are many other factors as well). It is quite apparent that in the violin world, the professional's main quest is to get "that" violin, that sings.
So, essentially, it seems that in our world musically, it is quite a bit about who has the best toys wins. But anything is possible, that is what I believe.
And regarding acronyms...thank you Dutchy! I did not know those. I spent a lot of time on a craft forum that had other acronyms...DD, DS, DH, etc. (dear daughter, dear son, dear husband, etc.) and one that is used quite a bit...
S.E.X. = stash enhancement experience. For those who come to the board there, it is quite amusing when one sees that ladies had great S.E.X. at Wal-Mart (for craft supplies).
