Sometimes the break is often confused as in difficult for the air but actually more to the fingers. For example, the mid C to D interval felt difficult for me and i also thought that it was a difference in resistance that caused the problem (breaks are nightmares for all beginner woodwind players i suppose....), but when once i attended a masterclass and was fortunate enough to have been slowly corrected the finger movement, it was like a miracle. Haha.....

Stability is right on. Some reeds simply need more concentration to fare well than others. Concerning the acoustical characteristics of the oboe, i find it quite intriguing. Some oboes are simply made better, but you can't have it all do you. Haha....we are destined to face the problems of the oboe, which ain't really a perfect instrument, i guess that's also one reason why the myth of the 'difficult oboe' came out, the oboe is simply more tedious and has more natural problems (intonation problems etc.) than other woodwinds.
