After a year and a half of not playing the oboe(gasp,I know),I've come back to sounding like that wonderful dying duck sound I had in middle school. I've only been playing for about two years,so that isn't much to begin with either. But now that I'm back in highschool band,I need to just remember the basics of the oboe, and I kind of need some tips to remember the fundamentals.(And no,I have not been supplied with books or anything by my teacher.)
So to summarize what I need help on:
-The fundamental things on playing the oboe(i.e. embouchure, proper posture,or any other things you might find important)
-And I also am wondering if that weird gurgling sound played on my lowest F and any note lower than that is caused by my weak embouchure, weak reed,or the probably-never-used Fox Renard oboe the school has. On a side note, I do remember this same exact trouble from 3 and a half years ago when I first started playing,so it really probably is just my embouchure.
I am using a very horrible store-bought Rico reed by the way.
And also,I've been playing a broken Bb clarinet for the past 3 months for marching band.I love the sound of C sharp on a C fingering.
And reading over this post,I realized my tone seems quite sarcastic and almost rude. But really,I joined band again to play oboe, cause I did miss this instrument.
And also, thank you for taking the time to read this and even more thanks if you decide to help.
