Thanks, guys, for the help.
I tried pressing down on the trills while playing, and didn't get any change, so I discarded that as the source of the problem. I think my take-home lesson here, once I get it working well again, is that I don't want to let it sit and dry out for months at a time.
Someone also contacted me off-board and suggested that I need to actually pull the octave vents and clean them, not just blow them out. I have the puller, but the vents are in there very, very tightly, and I couldn't get them to move. Guess I have to try that again.
Love the idea of taking it into a warm, steamy room, Craig! And here we are, about to tear up our bathroom for a remodel!
Does that mean I have to pay you for an hour of reed lessons, if your idea works?
