Two things.
As a plastic top joint player, I would have to say that by playing a plastic horn is accepting the fact that you're just going to deal with more water. One of my former teachers, Jan Eberle, only plays on two all-resin Lorees, and she says to use "dishwashing soap in water, foam it, and then spread it around with a feather". While i have done this, I find that it doesn't help much.
The big problem with plastic is how quickly it changes temperature, and thus allows moisture to condense quicker. There also is an absorption issue, but not as important as the variation of temperature. Therefore, I think while playing your back up, I would just suggest that you constantly keep it warm when not playing.
Last thing: if you ever decide to sell the plastic oboe, I'd be happy to buy it. I've been looking for an all-resin Loree, but there just aren't that many out there anymore.
