I'm not in the Marines band service, though I did inquire about joining - and at 34, I'm too old. Though I do work with some of the players (and several former Marines musicians) as the volunteer band is run by a Royal Marines Colour Sergeant.
I made up some nylon tipped adjusting screws for the new key parts on my plastic Signet oboe (which, to be honest, isn't a bad player), and somehow they're just the ideal length when adjusted so the heads are slightly proud of the pips.
