I have witten to Peter Hurd, he has very favorable comments about them. I'll try Brian Charles for his view. The Gordet that we are getting is a German made instrument. Not only am I looking for this to be a good instrument; it also has a lot of sentimental value because who the current owner is.
The oboe has plateaux keys with all the bells and whistles.
I'll ask his teacher after we get it, and if my son doesn't like it, I just may make the switch from clarinet to oboe!
Right now my son is playing a Fox 300, a school own/maintained instrument. It looks to be a fine oboe but it needs adjustments made and it just came back from service. We need a good repair tech in this area!
I would love to get a Fox 300 for my son, but as you know, oboes are not cheap. I have a Selmer 104 that he didn't like at all. It will be sold at some point in the future. I may wait until he gets a little better at playing and then have him try the selmer again, just for compairison.
