Hello All,
An update on my son, he's getting better. He's done with that dreaded concert, fingering some of it, but now it's over. He is now on to daily practice with no pressure from band directors. We found him a professional to give lessons, on vactaion now.
The reason for this post; I'm being sent a Gordet oboe. I've heard mostly good about this oboe but all of a sudden someone told me to avoid them. This took me back a little. I was told by this person that no one will ever play them professionally, they are hard to repair as the company went out of business and any real professional player will only play current model oboes, not older ones.
What's a gal to think? We will try this oboe before buying it but I know the person who played it and is selling it to me. I have no doubt that it is in fine condition.
Any ideas/comments on older (mid 70's) instruments? I know that it is not 'blown out'.
Thanks Folks!
Carrie
