I played Gordet's for the first 20 years of my 40 years of playing. I now play Lorees. The Gordets (mine were German) had a lovely sound and intonation but were very heavy.
I had to learn to make better reeds when I switched to Loree since the Gordet's covered up any tip noise that was there.
Since your son has a teacher, please ask the teacher's advice before buying.
