Hmm.. sounds like you might have a "combo" problem. Two small problems, either of which alone does not have a real effect, but both together - wham. My guess is that your reed leaks a tiny bit, and maybe your forked-F vent is not sealing well. This is ONLY a guess based on something similar that happened to me - your problem could be completely different!
Is the reed leaky at all? Wrap a small amount of saran-wrap/cling-film around the top of the string/bottom of the reed blades, and try again.
Is the forked F vent closing? use some thin cigarette paper to check closure of the forked-F vent. The balance here between the E pad (RH middle finger), the forked F tone-hole (directly above it) and the forked F vent is very delicate and can easily go out of regulation. If any of these keys are not closing fully when you finger "D", this can cause the effect you are experiencing. The vent should close lightly - if it closes too heavily, the other two holes won't close well.
Using your cigarette paper, it should not be possible to pull out from under the E key, the forked-F tone-hole should hold the paper firmly, and the vent should hold it lightly.
Hope this helps,
J.
