Uh-oh!
Now there are power tools ideal for the job, and power tools that clearly aren't.
A simple woodworking lathe with a minimum distance between centres of 300mm will be ideal for shaping tenon corks with as it has plenty of clearance around the workpiece, and the tool rest can be removed. One that will take a low C bass clarinet bottom joint will be even better, though in all cases, have a rotating centre in the tailstock. I've got a cheapo Chinese metal lathe with a 300mm bed which is fine for simple things, though not recise enough for others.
If I'm recorking a larger joint such as a cor anglais, then I shape the tenon corks by hand (using the bench peg as a centre). I do most of the shaping with a scalpel by rotating the joint with my left hand and trimming the cork to the ideal shape (and it HAS to be a SHARP blade!), then finish it off with a strip if 180 grit to smooth it all out.
