Getting familiar with the sequence of taking an oboe apart and reassembly is useful, as is fault finding, and then once it's together you will need to be familiar with adjusting it.
Fortunately most oboes are loaded up with adjusting screws which make all the interconnected keywork easy to adjust provided you understand what adjusting screw does what and how it affects everything around it (and how to put it right if it's out of regulation).
And with oboes (plateaux conservatoire and dual system), they have the same basic keywork and adjustments, but more and more keywork and gadgets are added as you go up in price, though the main action is pretty much the same.
