Hi Stefano,
Again, I'm really happy that you are enjoying your oboe now. It's too bad that it takes an outside source to help insure quality control from manufacturers. Since I purchased my oboe from WW&BW, they delayed shipping to ensure that my instrument was of good quality and adjusted properly.
Again, my Barrington has no bell ring. Interestingly, the serial number is on the lower side position of the upper joint (inscribed vertically along the C-D trill rod).
I wonder if it's possible that the newer instruments have been improved due to past criticisms.
