I'm pleased to hear that your oboe is now playing well. It does sound like very sloppy quality control.
I didn't know that Wisemann and Barrington models were the same. Are you sure?
There is also an oboe sold by John Packer in the UK that may also be one of these. It received a good review by Maxwell Spiers:

Compare this with the Wisemann:
Look identical don't they? No bell ring. Same case etc
The John Packer oboe is about the same price as the Barrington and a lot cheaper than the Wisemann. This doesn't surprise me. Instruments in Italy are so expensive!
My emails to John Packer have all been answered. My emails to music123.com about the Barrington have not!
