OK, so i gather everybody's playing the gruppetto on the first note (strong beat) of the bar, not ornamenting the second middle note of the bar, and the gruppetto sign is written after (or above) the principle note, not in front of it (sure would give more warning in advance, wouldn't it ???) -- which means i'm interpreting Gekeler's examples incorrectly -- time to get back on the learning curve for ornamentations ]:-]
