I have noticed no one has stated anything about how reeds and the way they are produced today may also affect some of the changes in sound and the way they are cut. It seems the oboe too has undergone as much change in this area as clarinet..clarinet reeds are totally different today in terms of file and cut over the versions produced even 30 years ago. This may also account for some change..I remember meeting Lothar Koch once and he said the older German school is pretty much a thing of the past which he said is terrible...he also felt his sound was more like the older school german players than french.

Alex Klein is a super player..I always found his playing to be more European that most american players. Somewhat lighter than most but with a tasty medium vibrato.

Focal dystonia tends to affect older brass players a lot more than younger players. However, if anyone has a link to where one can read about it it would be welcome.
