Hey Bobo
I like your thinking! Monoboetheism - that is a good word. And, perhaps we could all be members of the 'Cor-gregation!'.
Of course, you're right, Bruce Weinstein is the principal oboe, and Dudu Carmel the assistant principal oboe, of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
By the way, HautboisJJ, I am so pleased you are a fan of Dudu's playing, and of Thomas Indermuhle, also. Dudu is a very special oboist, who not only is exceptionally musical, but completely lights up a room when he enters. He never stops smiling! We met in Indermuhle's oboe class in Karlsruhe about 1989-1991. He was only 18 and already married, with his young wife in tow. He married her at such a young age to avoid her having to do 5 years of military service in Israel. 20 years later they are still together and have several children. He found my british accent an endless source of humour, and would impore me to lapse back into my home-town accent of Liverpool (known as scouse). He does the worst imitation of a scouse accent I have ever heard!
I can absolutely recommend studying outside one's own country - I had two brilliant years in Germany and was in a great oboe class. There were 16 of us and only 1 was german. Diana Doherty, Stefan Schilli, Dudu Carmel and Stephane Rancourt were all high-flyers and now hold down principal oboe positions in great orchestras around the world; several others have also done very well, and I ended up as principal cor anglais with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow, Scotland. Indermuhle is an amazing teacher, and has seemingly thought through all areas of technical confusion. So, if anyone is tempted to look for influences outside their own country then fill in that form and send it away! James
