Yep, that's the Barber I've got...very nice playing on that one! On this side of the pond, the Canzonetta recording by Bert Lucarelli is the best known one. Btw, I looked for the Daniel Strauss - on Amazon some reseller's trying to sell it for $145!! Noone's that good! Maybe I'll have to download the digital version you linked to - though usually I like to own the CD's (better fidelity when I'm in the mood for it). I found a nice video of Dudu Carmel doing Pulcinella on Youtube with the IPO...

You're absolutely right about being a global consumer of oboistic delights! For example, many times I listen to several recordings of orchestral works in search of inspiration for an oboe passage, and often the best interpretation of the oboe solo is on the worst recording or interpretation of the overall work! You have to be a total oboe nerd to do that, of course.
