Hi Bobo, EaubeauHorn
just back from the movies having watched the new Indiana Jones movie. Not my cup of tea, but ok!
It was so funny to see Dudu in action on the video you highlighted. I very rarely see him and he certainly didn't wear glasses when I knew him. Old age, you see! He seemed a bit sharp throughout, but it was a live concert, and you have to roll with the punches when you're a jobbing oboist. He's definitely quite a character and interesting to watch.
Bobo, if you're still feeling in a nerdy mood there's a lovely concerto by Ross Edwards, written for Diana Doherty. It's also known as the Lover's concerto, (or Bird Spirit Dreaming), as it was written for her and her husband, both of whom play in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He is the principal cor anglaisist.

She was invited to premiere this concerto with the New York Philharmonic in 2005 by Lorin Mazel. She's quite a star in the oboe world - even knocking Francois Leleux into 2nd place in the Prague International Oboe Competition in the early 90's!
EaubeauHorn, if you could take the time to outline what treatment you tried for your dystonia, I'd be very interested to hear. A local dystonia expert is conducting a clinic with several of the players in my band. His intention is to write a book, eventually. Botox has had successes with some musicians - there was a long article pinned onto the notice-board at work about the experiences of quite a well known solo pianist, whose name I can no longer recall, who regained his solo career back with this treatment, coupled with other techniques. With time and patience, dystonia, for some, is no longer the end of their careers that it once was.
