Hi vboboe --
I think this has been mentioned in another thread, but fwiw, my (very picky) teacher really likes the Fox EH that I bought this past winter. It came with two bocals -- 2 and 3 XL. In her estimation, the 2XL is the better for its capability with the high notes. I kind of liked the 3, because it seemed easier and richer, but she is right about the ability to sound the high notes reliably -- it's easier with the #2.
She tried my instrument with her favorite bocals (from an extensive collection that she has accumulated over the years), and felt that the Fox 2XL was "almost as good" as her favorite Loree bocal. She is a die-hard Loree devotee, and I was quite surprised that she had such a positive reaction to the Fox equipment For the price, it is a definite winner.
As for the bocals, the #2 seems a little shorter and narrower than the #3.
And, as with oboes, the character of the reed you use makes a considerable difference in the sound you will make and the ease of articulation.
