I think I deserve the feeling really (I mean the uneasy feeling). I was bragging about how I found this really great, dark sounding horn, and going on and on. I'm sure she kinda felt a little like she wished she had the same. She liked her instrument better, and I'm glad for that.
I think we've all discussed how tone is probably the least important factor in choosing and instrument, next to intonation and response and evenness. It does seem to be subjective, and the scrape of the reed can add to it.
I'm going to try the same make as her oboe now (Yamaha 841T), and get a second opinion vs the one I was going to choose.
