Well,there are some wood and plastic plaques around that will do the job nicely,but I don't remember the makers.They tend to be expensive,though.I experienced the same problems when as a student was using those metal reed killers,but of course if you´re used to something you can get good results anyway.It's only that in my opinion the thick wooden plaques allow you to scrape safer and more precisely as well.
