The humistat is an interesting alternative for about $5..it's a little plastic cylinder with a tight screwtop that releases vapor gradually; it fits in the reedcase slot; the advantage is it won't run out of water (the vapor opening can be adjusted to let more or less out); i don't believe it will ever leak either, but that's my biggest concern.
