I only ever used sweet almond oil on my Covey oboes and Loree ehorn's bores, but still, managed to get too much in there and some got onto some pads.
I switched from a swab to a oil coated conducting baton after reading about Naylor's oiling rods, but I guess I put too much oil in it after all. I still like the idea of oiling rods and will try that again, but carefully.
I will be more careful going forward, but also tend to agree with M. Schmidt, I question 'blown out', and wonder if good cork treatment and careful adjustment of mechanism ( including swedging...) is what is really needed.
If a bore warps, or wood grains raise to the surface, I'd think some bore reaming might be in order, but would not want to try that on my own (for now, anyway...).
