As a restorer of vintage clarinets and saxophones (and recently my first oboe overhaul, a wood Cabart), permit me to venture my opinion based on some experience: the alleged phenomenon of "blowout" of woodwind instruments is bull_ _ _ _. The keys wear with time, there may be very slight dimensional changes of the wood parts --- but all these things can be corrected or compensated for with a proper restoration. I consider this "blowout" urban legend to be a marketing ploy by instrument manufacturers to sell more new instruments.
