"It really isn't worth debating whether or not it occurs..."
Hey, I'm employed as a scientist. Debating whether something really occurs or why is the essence of science, and has led to many unexpected discoveries and advances. Back in the 19th century you would have said, who really cares whether light is propagated through the ether or not, as long as the light hits your face when you open the shutters...
So have folks actually measured the increase in bore diameter in a particular instrument as it ages?

Still an Amateur, but not really middle-aged anymore
