Well, I'm playing (or trying to be playing) clarinet now just b/c my little sister got one and I, an oboist of all people, am expected to teach her. It's actually pretty cool, and it hasn't messed up anything about my embouchure. The horrible thing is that since it's a clarinet I can play vibrato on it. I use mouth vibrato on it and it sounds awesome. I'm just worried b/c every once in a while I do it on my oboe. Not often, just on some nice long notes (like in some music in our honors band concert today), it actually sounds kinda nice but I really wish I could do vibrato right. Is it a lot easier for y'all to do vibrato on the middle (1st finger left & right hand) 'C' ?? I don't know but I can get a very lazy and slow vibrato out on it. Is it just b/c it's a C or am I actually doing something right? B/c I'm not using my jaw in any way for it. I've been playing 4 years now and I'm really anxious to be able to do vibrato b/c I'm a sophomore in high school, and the other oboist, a senior, has beautiful vibrato. It may just be b/c she played flute and learned it on it and transfers it to any new instrument she picks up. Thanks for help!
