Hi Mike,
I USED to have a double Pro-Tec case but got rid of it because of its bulk.
I am miiddle-aged and have some nerve damage in my fingers etc., my grip is affected.
ANYWAY, I got the BAM lightweight back-pack case and found it worth the $$. It fits all 3 of my oboes and the EH is well-protected too. In the winter, I put it into an insulated shopping bag for termperature protection, and i'm not too sure about ever sending it through checked baggage on a flight unless it was packed within a ton of clothes in a hard-shell suitcase.
BUT for just hauling the instruments around, it's GREAT. There isn't a ton of storage space but enough room in the pocket for a score and basic accessories/tools: a few reed boxes, swabs, screwdriver.
