Last year, someone posted a link to the "Guide Roseau" (Cane Guide), a gadget to help ensure no slipping (offset) of the blades. I bought one a few months ago and finally got to try it: just plain amazing!
If you purposely slip your blades when tying, then you won't like it, but it seems that Europe, lots of Asia and pretty much all of Central+South America does its best to never slip.
Just after receiving it, I found some pictures on the internet of another technique which probably inspired the invention of the cane guide, but the gizmo is well worth the expense: it works better.
