Just out of curiosity, who told you to bring the arms up? Personally, that goes against anything that I've ever been told about posture. I have been told (and it seems to make sense to me) that raising your arms like that creates a lot of unnecessary tension that will eventually result in fatigue and a sound and technique that's less free. Personally what I would do is totally relax your shoulders and arms, and bring the oboe down so that youre fingers are at the optimal angle. Bringing the oboe down not only makes for a more relaxed posture, but you'll find that it's far more comfortable to plya when you hold the oboe close to you. Something about doing that makes technique for any notes easier and results in a darker sound. Hope this helps!
