I'm stuck on page 16B of Essential Elements 2000, where you learn (upper-octave) Db and Alt-Eb, and while after a week of wrassling with it I can now play Db, I'm having the devil of a time getting my fingers around Alt-Eb. Is it just me, or is this a hard note for other people to play? Mainly I can't seem to slide my left index finger off the half-hole, AND hold closed my left middle finger AND ring finger, AND reach the Eb key with my left pinky. My left hand just doesn't wanna go there. And no, I don't have any particular physical handicaps on my left hand, it's just not happy with being asked to do all this simultaneously. Do some people just have a left hand that's not "oboe-friendly"? Should I send the oboe back to the instrument rental place and get a clarinet instead?
Sign me,
EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED
