Yes, you're right about that. We had to stop and tune every 15 minutes with the Korg tuner just to try to keep on track (clarinet, bassoon, flute, oboe).

I think that physically the heat was causing other problems, as well. All in all, it was a nightmare and a wake-up call for me. I had thought that I had enough problems trying to sound good on an oboe and now I'm realizing that with 3 outdoor concerts coming up there may be more problems than I had realized - if the weather is this hot again. So, I'll try the suggested scale exercises and I'll also go sit on the deck outside and do some practicing (poor neighbors!) to get acclaimated to the temperatures.

I guess with the hot weather I don't really need to warm up the oboe? Or how does that work exactly??? Do you just start playing and not worry about warming it up if it's not cold?
