Thank you so much; that does seem to be at least part of the problem. I am relieved you didn't tell me I could fix it myself! I'd hate to screw up (literally) my oboe. The forked F breather...
Got the Weait book today (ordered Saturday and got on Monday; didn't even wait for my check; incredible!) and so now I will work on my side of the reed; it should keep me busy for a good long while.
There are a lot of good people out in the double reed world; thank you all again.
