Thanks for the idea; I don't think it's the problem; however:
Messing around with the keys I note that when I depress the D key (split ring) the pad that's activated (behind the R hand E flat key and a bit distal to it; sorry I don't know the name; the D pad?) opens fine but doesn't always completely close when the key is released. I can see a sliver of light under it. The E flat pad seems okay.
Could that be a problem?
And if it is can I fix it? My repair person would likely do it gratis as he's just worked on it recently.
