I started singing for the vibrato last night, and I could feel the action in
the base of my throat.
I have noticed that some professional singers have a vibration in the mouth and tongue at times. I've always wondered what they were doing. Is that related to controlling the vibrato?
Also, my husband told me last night that he could hear a vibrato in my playing. He has played the viola for almost three years now, and he is still working on his vibrato. He thinks I'm pushing myself too much, but I'm only trying to improve my tone and my playing. I'm thinking that if I work on the vibrato, my entire tone or sound will improve too.
I get my reeds from my teacher who is a professional, and she has told me to start playing with medium reeds. She adjusts them for me, but I also bought some of her reeds at the music store which should be scraped more. Now that they are getting broken-in, I'm doing better with them. I like the tone a whole lot better than with the medium soft.
Ah, the challenges of oboe playing. Isn't it wonderful?
