The difficulty in controlling the pressure you are exerting with the left index finger to keep the key held down, yet slide the finger while under pressure is why sliding your finger across the nose to make it slick is suggested and probably necessary at times depending on weather and natural slickness of your skin.

It is very un-ergonomic... if you slide your finger without sufficient release of pressure you will develop pain. Just like sliding the right hand "proper" left F to D hard enough times.

If you hold a CD case between your fingers spaced out a bit try rolling and then try sliding... then try sliding with pressure. Now try it twice as fast!

It's expending far more negative energy to slide than is necessary.

I have a suspicion that people with a natural preference for sliding may be left handed. The rocking motion outward with my right hand index finger does not feel good, where sliding does have a better feel. The left hand finger slide is just awkward. I'm right handed.

Stephen
