i think your problem is that you are either biting(pinching) the reed or (NORMAL PROBLEM) inserting too much of the reed into the mouth. Basically you can only play at the tip of the reed. More reed means brighter sound and impossible control over intonation. Although pro players will sometimes player brighter for composition requirements, they are good enough to control and maintain the good intonation they have.
