... haaaah, T-plate ring-key oboe, early-mid 60's alma mater ex-pat here, but can't for life of me remember what make that oboe was, only know it wasn't Howarth's, was all resin model, maybe it was B&H but Regent model doesn't sound familiar, what other student models did they have, maybe knowing that might ring a bell?
That oboe did have low B-flat, but no other F key conveniences so prevalent on mod oboes. Spent months my very first year back in the 60's exercising left pinky E-flat as resonance key for forked F's -- until 1st teacher drily informed me (6+ months later) can also use right pinky E-flat forked F's -- i coulda killed her! (i'm right handed)
... now just 2 years renewbie, confess i do feel a lot more secure with both thumbs holding oboe, but also miss the convenience of alternate fingering in sequences such as ChrisP already mentioned, others, alt top C# and open top D and a few other middle register harmonic fingerings presently lost in dim recesses of infrequently practised memory
... also seem to recall trying to learn how to cover hole in half-hole cap while keeping the cap up, did you ever have to learn that for 'minimal finger movement' exercises? Whole point was to learn not to ever 'drum' the pipe while changing fingers, no matter how energetic or active the music
