Ermmm... I don't think pearl touches are a good thing on oboe (but they're alright on saxes though) - someone correct me if I'm wrong, but are they easy to remove if you need to change a pad so you don't scorch them? And if they are easy to remove, they can run the risk of leaking if not glued in well. But if they're glued in well, they'll be difficult to remove, so changing a pad won't be all that easy unless you use liquid shellac - and this takes ages to go off.
My Marigaux cor had a plastic insert for the RH mid fingerplate (the perforated one), I was having trouble with the low notes but all the pads were seating fine and the mechanism was well regulated, but this plastic insert was leaking around the edge.
Easy solution - take the bugger out! It was only superglued in anyway, and without it I've had no trouble at all from E downwards.
