... yes, the low C fingering is another combination shown on fingering charts i've got and it also shows the A-flat key is used in this combination, but the first basic fingering shown on these same charts is half-hole, L2 & L3, R2 & R3 and the low B key, but no C is shown in that combination

-- hey, UNLESS it's actually showing a fingering for B/C linked oboes in which case it's a full low B which automatically closes the C key! But you say that's not necessary, C does the job anyway?

hm, yes, transition from Hi D-flat to Hi E-flat is easier using low C key for both and when doing Hi E-flat to Hi E natural, makes more sense to use the A-flat key option too

... don't have B/C linkage = scrap first fingering shown on chart!
