Greetings!!!

I just returned to the oboe after a shot hiatus, so I can't help you out with models and such. However I'll tell you what I do know about purchasing instruments.

No matter the brand or reputation of the company, the MOST important thing is for your daughter to play-test the prospective oboe. If she doesn't like it, chances are she won't want to practice. Many companies have made some outstanding instruments, but they have also produced some duds which are rather awful!!!

Also, try to have her private instructor there as well (most will be more than happy to assist or will require only a modest fee), to help give an objective view on the oboe's response, tone, and intonation as well as craftsmanship, etc.

This way your daughter is assured an oboe that is good quality and that she enjoys!!!
