Yes. I studied with Mr. Weinstein almost for five years. Now we are good friends and I still asking him for advise from time to time.
Mr. Weinstein probably most interesting Orchestral oboist of today, carrying out great and unique style of playing that almost gone forever.
There is very difficult for me to add anything for what he already said, we talked a lot about it.
I remember him saying "look at the first generation of Tabuteu students: Gombergs, Lifschey, De Lancie,Bloom,Gassman,Kirchner,Mack... none of them sounded alike! You could recognise the orchestra by the way first oboe sounded.Cleveland didn't sounded like New York,New York didn't sounded like Boston etc, and look what it become!"
Also , Mr. Weinstein wrights here not much about the tone but about the Way of playing. What's happend???
