If you are cramping, I definitely recommend a series of stretches for your hand, before, while (like during a break or a long rest), and after you play. Spread your fingers wide then relax, bend every finger back (to comfort, of course), push your hand down below your wrist, push your hand back above your wrist, then shake your hand a bit.
THese are the things you want to note, which would make you consult a doctor or physio:
- heat at ANY joint
- redness, swelling of ANY joint
- numbness or tingling
- sensation of 'electric shock' in your arm or hand
